WATER AID ADVERT ANALYSIS

The water aid advert communicates a strong, empathetic meaning to the audience through the use of symbolic media code. The bold font of the letters are used to draw attention to the impactful words that are being displayed. The phrase 'Dig toilets not graves' conveys a deep message with an important meaning about how people can help dig basic facilities for people that helps them survive rather than graves for dead people; they can help by donating money. The child has his eyes directly looking into the camera, which could be to try and persuade the audience to feel bad for him.

This is an old advert persuading people to buy and eat weetabix. This adverts denotes a nurse recommending her patient to eat weetabix, supposedly if they want to be like her a 'healthy, jolly, young nurse'. However, this adverts connotes that weetabix is the much healthier, more economical breakfast choice and you wouldn't need to be a patient as much if you eat them.
